When we began Globcal International in 2008 as an organization dedicated to social media based interaction in a territory where the international legal landscape would not permit that individuals be recognized in any formal or legal way. Since then however, Facebook has become legally bound as a part of the reality (fabric of our lives) in the communications revolution, Facebook and other social media network activities are now recognized in court and under the law wherever jurisdiction is clear.
In 2013, understanding Facebook's vision we began to re-formalize our organization as an international decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) civil society (state) in the form of a cooperative and set the cooperative ownership fee based on 1/1000th of our assets with a reinvestment policy to build the infrastructure of the organization. Inadvertently our volunteers (legacy members) could not be formalized in the organization as legal stakeholders (unless they invested in the cooperative).
Our volunteers are not considered "actual members" nor are they legally bound or entitled to operate on the behalf of the organization as employees, officers, representatives, or trustees. Volunteer involvement is considered honorary at very best. Despite holding some membership benefits, volunteers have "no legal standing" or ability to officially represent the organization in any legitimate way.
In 2017-2018 we once again innovated on our membership scheme now allowing volunteers working within the social media the opportunity to ply their skills and interests as patriates of the Non-State Network within the international arena as qualified amateur players (non-state actors) capable of receiving training and some limited benefits as individuals.
